Royal Humane Society, large bronze medal (successful) (Charles C. Flanagan, 7 October 1857) fitted with ring suspension, edge bruising and polished, otherwise nearly very fine £100-120

Royal Humane Society Case No. 16,094.

Charles C. Flanagan, aged 13, from Lachine Montreal, Canada, rescued his sister, Kate M. Flanagan, aged 11, from the canal, near Montreal, on 7 October 1857. Kate Flanagan had accidentally fallen from a swing bridge into the canal. Charles Flanagan jumped from the bridge into the canal with his clothes on, a height of 15 feet, dived, and rescued her. His Bronze Medal was sent by post on 2nd January 1858, to The Under Secretary of State, The Colonies.
