France, 1906. France. Les Mineurs, a silver medal by H.L. Gréber for the SAMF, miners at work at a coal-face, LA MINE, reverse miner attempting to take cover from an explosion caused by fire-damp, LE GRISOU, edge stamped 51, 72mm (Coll. R. Marx 127; BDM VII, 393; Hamlet –). Tiny rim knock on reverse at 4 o’clock, otherwise about extremely fine and extremely rare, one of the most difficult of all the SAMF issues to find in commerce (£280-320)
