Institution of Civil Engineers, Telford Medal, 1828, silver-gilt, after W. Wyon, bust of Thomas Telford left, reverse Menai suspension bridge, edge named (The Hon. Richard Clere Parsons, MA, M. Inst CE, Session 1895-96), 58mm (BHM 1328; E. 1206). Tiny cut on reverse rim, otherwise brilliant and practically as struck; in official Wyon blue velvet-lined case of issue (£60-80)

The Hon. Richard Clere Parsons (1851-1923), 3rd son of the 3rd Earl of Rosse; educated Trinity College, Dublin; partner in Kitson & Son, Leeds; took an active part in the development of the Yorkshire College, now the University of Leeds, 1880-7; supervised the design of water and drainage systems in the cities of Buenos Aires and Petrograd; director of the Mersey Railway Co and Vice-President of the Royal Society of Arts
