Boyes, No’s. 115, 98 and 180 Squadrons, Royal Air Force, together with several photographs, note book and a certificate from the Government of the Netherlands for services rendered to No. 320 (Dutch) Squadron during the war, and a related silver shooting medal ‘Davy Cup 1904, 2nd W.R.Y. R.G.A.Vols. Sgt. Major Boyes’, good condition

Clifford Boyes commenced training in September 1941 and joined No. 115 Squadron at Mildenhall in October 1942. As Navigator of a Wellington bomber he completed 31 operational missions against targets on the coast of France and in Germany, before being posted to 82 O.T.U. at Ossington in July 1943. He next joined No. 98 Squadron at Dunsfold in June 1944, flying on 8 operations in support of the Normandy landings, but was posted to No. 180 Squadron at the end of June. By mid-September 1944, he had taken part in a further 26 operational missions, as Navigator of a Mitchell bomber, against various targets and troop concentrations in France. Having completed a total of 65 operations Flying Officer Boyd spent the remainder of the war with No. 10 (O) A.F.U. and No. 109 O.T.U. on various training courses.
