M.M. London Gazette 18 September 1973 ‘In recognition of gallantry and distinguished service in Northern Ireland during the period 1st February 1973 to 30th April 1973.’

Sold with photograph of the recipient, two street patrol maps, an original newspaper cutting and copies of 10 congratulatory letters and telegrams. Included in these is one from Lieutenant General Sir Frank King, K.C.B., M.B.E., Headquarters Northern Ireland, which gives the following information:

“I am writing to congratulate you on your award of a Military Medal for your conduct on the 29th March this year while serving in Northern Ireland. I know that on that night you most skillfully led an ambush and courageously dealt with three gunmen who surrendered to you. I know that in addition to this incident you have, on three tours in Northern Ireland, established a reputation as an outstanding leader and I am delighted that your conduct has been recognised by this very well deserved award.”
