Temporary Surgeon Commander Charles Yarrow Eccles, M.B., M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., served as a Dresser in H.M. Hospital Ship SICILIA which was employed during the Gallipoli campaign 1915. His 1914-15 Star was issued by the India Office (WO 329/2941 confirms). He qualified in 1916 and joined the Royal Navy as a temporary Surgeon and served in the Battle Cruiser INDOMITABLE until August 1918 when he transferred to the shore establishment H.M.S. INDUS. He was demobilised in 1919 but recalled for service in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, 1939-45.
