Thomas Pasley was born on 10 May 1861. He entered the service as an Assistant Clerk on 15 January 1878 aboard H.M.S. DUKE OF WELLINGTON, and was promoted to Clerk upon joining BELLEROPHON in January 1879. He subsequently served aboard NORTHAMPTON (1879-81), and AGINCOURT from 10 May 1882, as an Assistant Paymaste,r until 5 August 1882. In the latter vessel whilst serving in Egyptian waters in July and August 1882 he gained entitlement to the Egypt medal without clasp. He next served in ALEXANDRA (1883-85), ROYAL ADELAIDE (1887-89 and also 1891-93) when promoted to Paymaster on 1st August 1893. He was retired as medically unfit whilst aboard NORTHAMPTON on 9 June 1898, but was promoted on the retired list to Staff Paymaster on 1st August 1899. He became the Secretary of the Royal Yacht Squadron and was awarded the M.V.O. (4th Class) on the occasion of the visit of King Edward VII to Cowes on 12 August 1904.
