M.M. London Gazette 17 January 1946. The following recommendation was extracted from official records: ‘On 10 February 45 on the MYITSON bridgehead the enemy launched a sudden attack on the Battalion O Group. The Platoon Commander and two section commanders were killed when the Defence Platoon counter attacked. Nk Rehm Ali, realising the danger, pushed his section forward under intense fire and prevented the enemy from reaching the Battalion O Group. He was mainly responsible for it getting out unscathed.

On 15 February 45 at Myitson, Officer Commanding HQ Company with a reconnaissance party were ambushed by a party of enemy. Coming under heavy fire they were pinned to the ground. Nk Rehm Ali worked his way to the right flank and by accurate rifle fire wounded three of the enemy, causing the remainder to withdraw and allowing the Company Commander and Reconnaissance party to extricate themselves.

On 17 February 45 at Myitson on the South bank of the Shweli River, owing to heavy casualties in other companies, Nk Rehm Ali and three men had to defend a platoon area against enemy attacks. By expert handling of his LMG he kept off the enemy throughout the day until reinforcements arrived. He remained at his post for 36 hrs. The following morning five bodies and much abandoned ammunition were found in front of his position. Throughout these actions No.16123 Nk Rehm Ali has shown outstanding qualities of personal bravery and devotion to duty.’
