Leonard de Lorna Christopher was born on 27 October 1883 and educated at Wellington College. He joined the Indian Army in January 1904, serving with the 36th Sikhs before joining the Supply and Transport Corps in 1910. He served during the War of 1914-21, in Iraq 14 Jan to 28 June 1916, 12 Oct 1916 to 12 March 1918, 16 May to 15 June 1918, and 15 to 26 March 1919; and in Persia 13 March to 15 May 1918, and 16 June 1918 to 14 March 1919. Appointed Deputy Assistant Director, S. & T., Shanghai Defence Force, 24 January to 24 June 1927. Lieut-Colonel I.A.S.C. January 1930; Colonel 1934; Temp Brigadier 1937; retired 22 December 1938.

The lot is sold with comprehensive original documentation including three M.I.D. Certificates, his original Commission, Warrant for the C.I.E. and certificates for Jubilee and Coronation medals, identity discs, and a large file containing his complete official service record, forwarded to him from the Quartermaster-General’s Branch in January 1939.
