A fine C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O. group of seven awarded to Colonel N. B. Bainbridge, West Riding Regiment later Army Ordance Department
The Most Honourable Order of The Bath, C.B. (Military) silver-gilt neck badge; The Order of St. Michael and St. George, C.M.G., silver-gilt breast badge, minor enamel flake to one arm, both in Garrard cases of issue; Distinguished Service Order., V.R.; Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 6 clasps, Relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, S.A. 1901; 1914-15 Star (Lt. Col., D.S.O., A.O.D.); British War and Victory Medals, M.I.D., these contained in a contempoary fitted case, together with original bestowal documents for C.B., C.M.G., and D.S.O., invitation to investiture of D.S.O. at St James’s Palace on 29 October 1901, three Geat War M.I.D. certificates, two Commission documents, and handwritten certificates of service detailing his promotions and theatres of service from 1889-1926, generally good very fine (7)

Captain Norman Bruce Bainbridge was born 22 Oct. 1869 at Anglesea , Isle of Wight. He entered the West Riding Regt. 3 May 1890, becoming Lieutenant 1 Dec. 1893. During the Boer War he was severley wounded at Seacowpoolnek, 1 January 1901. During the Great War he became Lieutant-Colonel 8 Dec 1914; was Ordnance Office 1st Class (Temporary ) from 27th May, 1916, with the temporary rank of Colonel. On the 26th of June 1935 he was tragically drowned whist on a boating trip in the Thames, a full account of this incident is included with the lot.
