Prince Edward) together with an illustrated certificate named to the recipient ‘Presented to the Men of the Naval Brigade in honour and admiration of the Splendid Services rendered by them to their Queen and Country during the South African War 1899-1900’, contact marks, nearly very fine (6)

One of 24 five clasp Q.S.A.’s to Philomel. Able Seaman Jane was presented with his medal by the King but the medal roll notes that he was issued with a duplicate. It is believed that the East and West Africa medal is also a duplicate issue.
