London Gazette 11 November 1953 “For distinguished service in operations in Korean waters.”

At the time of the award of the Distinguished Service Medal, Able Seaman Gray was serving on the Bay-Class Frigate H.M.S. ST BRIDES BAY. The D.S.M. was presented by the Queen at Buckingham Palace on 1 March 1955. Twenty four D.S.M.’s were awarded to Royal Navy and Royal Marine personnel for the Korean War 1951-53.
