D.S.M. London Gazette 22 January 1920 “The following have been approved for services in Russia 1919.”

The following details were extracted from Admiralty records: “The following officers and men have performed valuable work for the Allies up river:- Engine Room Articifer 2nd Class John W. Huxley O.N.M.3631 H.M.S. BORODINO
“This man peformed valuable service during North Russia operations 1918.” The Report is signed by Captain Altham Senior Naval Officer Archangel River Expedition.

H.M.S. BORODINO was a Merchant Store Ship hired by the Admiralty as a Fleet Messenger 1914-1919. Built in 1911 her gross registered tonnage was1,970 tons, she was returned to Merchant Service in 1919.
