St George Medal, 4th Class, No. 1032317, "During the battle of 19 November 1916, under heavy enemy fire brought shells and petrol for the armoured cars thereby helping the advance." (ADM.171.174 & ADM.116.1626)

Petty Officer Lloyd Clarence May Milner, Royal Naval Air Service, embarked for Russia on 8 December 1915, for service with the Armoured Car Squadrons commanded by Commander Oliver Locker-Lampson. During September 1916 he was on detached service on the Caucasian Front. He was in action 30 November to 2 December 1916 at Topalul, during the Dobrudsha battle, for which he was awarded the St George Medal 4th Class, presented by General Sirelius at Hirsova on 8 December 1916. He remained on detached service at Tudor Vlademerescue in Roumania until returned to the U.K. from Tiraspol for duty on 24 January 1917. He returned to Russia arriving at Main Base, Odessa, during April 1917 and subsequently served at Telyache, Galicia in June, leaving Proskurov Base in September for special duty, completing his service at Brovary Base and Kursk. He left Russia for the U.K. finally on 18 February 1918 and, in common with many other ‘Lockers Lambs’, transferred to the Machine Gun Corps on 28 February 1918 (ADM.116.117). The award of the French Croix de Guerre has not been confirmed.
