John Hobart Houghton was educated at Cheltenham College; commissioned into the Royal Army Service Corps in July 1939; Lieutenant, October 1942; Captain, January1946; retired 1956.
He was taken prisoner of war during the Second World War whilst serving in North Africa, and held in Camp No. 079 (Braunschweig). Attached to the Somaliland Scouts between November 1950 and December 1953. Sold with some copied research material.
