British War and Victory Medals (31477 Pte., Glouc. R.); together with memorial plaque (George Edwin James Haines); illuminated memorial scroll and card box of issue for medals, nearly extremely fine (3) £50-60

George Edwin James Haines was born at Stroud and enlisted at Bristol. He was killed in action in France and Flanders on 22 October 1917 whilst serving with the 14th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment. His name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial. Sold with copy of newspaper cutting relating to his death which includes a poor quality photograph of recipient.
