Private John Jones was killed in action at Isandhlwana on 22 January 1879. He had enlisted at Brecon on 29 August 1874, aged 19 years 6 months, and proceeded to South Africa early in 1875. During his short career he was repeatedly fined and imprisoned for drunkenness. His effects were claimed by his father.
