James Moore Hanson was appointed Ensign in the 99th Foot on 3 April 1866; Lieutenant, 22 March 1871; Captain, 6 December 1877. He served throughout the Zulu War of 1879 and was present at the battle of Ginghilovo. He became Major on 1 July 1888, and retired in 1894.
