The R C Bell Collection of British Trade Tokens

18th Century, Warwickshire, Birmingham, Workhouse, Halfcrown, copper, and Two Shillings, silver-plated, both 1788, latter with usual W countermark; One Shilling and Sixpence, and Shilling with bust of Nelson (DH 1, 2a, 3, 4). [4]. Second and third very fine, others about extremely fine but DH 4 with mark of value partly obliterated, probably contemporaneous with issue (£70-100)

The assertion by Waters (followed by Bell), that only 72 specimens of DH 1 were struck, is probably erroneous; specimens of DH 1 (whether in copper or brass) are so frequently met with in commerce that the actual number struck must have been considerably more
