Italy, Maria Antonio di Gennaro, lead portrait medal, by Johann Karl Hedlinger, bust right, reverse legend in eleven lines, 41mm (BDM V, p.241). With some small marks to rim and traces of past lacquering but still attractive and better than very fine, rare (£20-30)

Maria Antonio di Gennaro (d. 1744), medallist, born in Naples, medallist and engraver at the Vienna mint, he also worked for Saxony and Poland. His initials appear on Salzburg Thalers of 1723 and 1724.
