Auction Catalogue
Victoria (1837-1901), Threepence, 1846. Hair above ear a little soft as usual, otherwise about as struck, a superb coin, with mint bloom and semi circular splash of sea green and russet toning on upper margins of obverse, similar hues on reverse (£40-60)
Probably a Maundy coin. Currency strikings (ESC 2056–R2) are seldom seen; SC quotes £150 for EF examples and does not price the coin in Uncirculated state.
