Jackson Ogilvie Rae was born in Londonderry, N.S., and served as Lieutenant in the Canadian Grenadier Guards, 1924-30. He enlisted as an Aeronautical Engineer in September 1939, with the rank of Flying Officer. He served throughout the war in the aircraft inspection department where he assisted greatly in the development of the Hydro-foil target used by the Navy and Air Force. His name was put forward no less than five times for an honour - C.B.E., O.B.E. or M.B.E. - but each time without success. By the end of the war he had been promoted to Group Captain, and after leaving the R.C.A.F. he was the Ottawa representative for de Haviland Aircraft. He died of a heart attack on 27 January, 1951. Sold with a portrait photograph and Record of Service.
