George Neville served in B company, 1st Queensland Mounted Infantry, and afterwards transferred to the 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen. With this unit he was slightly wounded at the disastrous affair at Onverwacht, 4th January, 1902, when the 5th lost 12 men killed, and 2 officers and 15 men wounded.
