Baronet’s Badge of the United Kingdom, silver-gilt and enamels, the reverse hall marked 1929 and officially inscribed (Cunard of Bush Hill 1859) extremely fine

The Cunard Baronetcy traces its lineage back to Sir Samuel Cunard, an eminent merchant of Halifax, Nova Scotia, son of Abraham Cunard, of Philadelphia, who was created a Baronet on 9 March 1859. The badge offered here relates to Sir Edward Cunard who succeeded his father as 5th Baronet in 1933. He was born on 25 November, 1891, and educated at Eton and Cambridge. He joined the Diplomatic Service in 1914 and served as 3rd Secretary at the British Embassy in St. Petersburg, in Sir F. Lindley’s mission to Archangel and at the Peace Conference in Paris. He resigned from the service in 1919. He was Private Secretary to the Governor of Trinidad 1940-46, and was an Officer of the Order of St. John. He resided in Barbados and died there on 2 July, 1962.
