Petty Officer Attridge was very severely wounded in the left arm at the action at Becquah, 1 February 1874. During the final advance on Coomassie in 1874, the Naval Brigade fought three brisk actions in the course of four days: at Borumassie on 29th January (3 Seamen and 1 Marine wounded); at Amoaful on 30th January (6 Officers and 20 Petty Officers, Seamen and Marines, wounded); and at Becquah on 1st February (1 Seaman killed, and 3 Petty Officers and Seamen wounded). On 4th February there was further fighting at Ordah-su (1 Officer and 4 Seamen wounded) but in the afternoon of the same day the Army entered Coomassie, which Sir Garnet Wolsley, on the 6th, ordered to be burnt.
