A Hooge D.C.M. group of five awarded to Sergeant E. C. Jenner, 5th Lancers, later R.S.M., 16th/5th Lancers
Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (1176 Sjt., 5th Lrs.); 1914 Star (1776 L.Cpl., 5/Lrs.) initials’F.G.’ on this; British War and Victory Medals (1176 W.O.Cl.1, 5th Lrs.); Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R. (7808941 W.O.Cl.2, 5th Lrs.) the 1914 Star severely polished, therefore poor, the remainder good very fine and possibly replacement issues (5)

D.C.M., London Gazette, 6 September, 1915: “For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 25th May, 1915, at Hooge, when, on his own initiative, he, with the greatest coolness and bravery, advanced alone from his own trench and with bombs drove off a party of Germans who were engaged in digging a fire trench in close proximity to our lines. Sergeant Jenner has constantly shown great gallantry under the most trying conditions.”
Sergeant Jenner was mentioned in despatches London Gazette 22 June, 1915, and awarded the Russian Medal of St. George, 2nd class, London Gazette 25 August, 1915. Thirteen D.C.M.’s to the regiment for the Great War.
