1939-45 Star, clasp, Battle of Britain; Air Crew Europe Star; Defence and War Medals, the group mounted for wear together with original named card box of issue, transmission slip, original photograph of the recipient in flying suit, and a letter from the Ministry of Works, good very fine (4)

Gordon Eric Ellis was born in 1915 and joined the Royal Air Force on a short service commission in February 1939. He was posted as a Pilot to 64 Squadron at Kenley on 12 July 1940. On August the 8th ,1940, whilst flying Spitfire SH-E on an operational patrol, he crash landed as a result of engine failure on return to Hawkinge, suffering severe injuries which effectively put to an end his operational career.
