On the 10th August 1915, the East Yorks launched a major bombing raid on German trenches at Zillebeke (the Hooge). When full reports came in the next morning it was revealed that 7 officers had been wounded in the attack. They were Lts. Brindley, Reynard, Stamp, Fosdick, Murray, Bain and Stacpole. In the ranks 18 men were killed, 97 wounded and 67 missing (Ref Regimental History).
Since all three medals carry the rank of 2/Lieut. it appears the Lieutenant Stacpole may have been invalided out as a result of his wounds.
