Army of India 1799-1826, 2 clasps, Nepaul, Bhurtpoor (Captn. Wm. Curphey, Arty.) short hyphen reverse, officially impressed naming, good very fine £1000-1200

William Curphey was born in the Parish of St Paul, Dublin, on 26 December 1786. A Cadet of 1804, he arrived in India on 12 September 1805. He served at the storm and capture of Chamir fort, 29 January 1807; in the Nepaul War, at the siege and capture of Hathras, as Captain-Lieutenant, 3rd Company 2nd Battalion Artillery; and at the siege and capture of Bhurtpore, as Captain commanding 1st Company (Field Battery) 3rd Battalion Artillery. He retired in January 1832, became Lieutenant-Colonel in November 1854, and died in Kensington, London, on 24 September 1856. Sold with service record.
