Waterloo 1815 (Lieut. Wm. Shirley, 7th Regiment Hussars) fitted with replacement steel clip and ring suspension, sometime removed from mount, rubbing to edge and expertly plugged at 6 o’clock, otherwise about very fine £1200-1400

William Shirley was born at Eatington Park, Warwick, on 23 March 1794, and was appointed Cornet in the 7th Hussars on 28 March 1811; Lieutenant, 23rd Foot, December 1812; Lieutenant, 7th Hussars, by exchange, paying the difference, 7 January 1813; Captain, 12 September 1816; Major, 17 June 1824. He served with the 7th Hussars in the Peninsula and France from August 1813 to July 1814, including the battles of Orthes and Toulouse, with the rank of Cornet (Medal with two clasps), and at Waterloo with the rank of Lieutenant. Sold with further research.
