Great Britain, The following three lots consist of yachting medals awarded to Sir Arthur Henry Fitzroy Paget

England, Royal Thames Yacht Club, silver prize medals (3), by Garrard, yacht in full sail, reverses engraved ‘1926 Cumberland Cup’, ‘1927 Cumberland Cup’, and ‘1927 Coupe de France’, all 39mm. Extremely fine (3)

General the Rt. Hon. Sir Arthur Henry Fitzroy Paget, PC, GCB, KCVO (1851-1928), eldest son of Lord Alfred Paget (see Lot no.000), lived at Coombe Wood, Kingston Hill, Surrey; entered the Scots Guards 1869; served in Ashanti War, Egypt, Burma and the Sudan; commanded the 1st Scots Guards in South Africa, 1899-1902; was the Officer Commanding English troops in Ireland, 1911-17.
Paget’s yachts were entitled
Samphire (on which the 1896-7 medals were won), Siris (1926 medal) and Siris II (1927 medals). His son’s yacht was the Sirena (1929 medal).
