A[listair] R[alph] S[Spiers] Alexander I.M.S., a group of three named prize medals: Military Hospital, Netley, Montefiore medal (Inst. 1881), by Dubois, bronze, 60mm (Eim. 1685); Army Medical School, Edmund Alexander Parkes Memorial medal (1911), by J.S. & A.B. Wyon, bronze, 51mm, and William Marshall Webb prize for Military Medecine (1911), by Allan Wyon, bronze, 51mm, all in cases of issue, the last case damaged on the side. Extremely fine or better, last two a little dusty, an interesting group (3)

Commissioned 18.1.1911; Capt. 28.1.1914; officiating Medical Officer, 28th Light Cav., 1915-6 Medical Officer 2nd 7th Gurkha Rifles in Mesopotamia , died of wounds 9.2.1916. Buried Kut War Cemetery, Iraq, Row ‘Q’ , Grave 2. Nathaniel Montefiore (1819-1882), surgeon.
