Four: Paymaster in Chief W.W. Parminter, Royal Navy

Watson William Parminter was born on 4 December 1821, entered the Royal Navy as a clerk aboard H.M.S. Zebra in January 1839. Transferred in the same rank to Pheonix in May 1840. Whilst aboard this ship he became eligible for the Naval General Service Medal with clasp Syria. Advanced to Passed Clerk on 16 January 1841 whilst aboard Camperdown. Next served as Clerk in Charge aboard Bonetta in March 1841 before transfer to Ferris as Acting Purser in August 1843. Reappointed to Bonetta in November 1843 as a Passed Clerk and in the same rank appointed to Collingwood in May 1844. Whilst aboard Collingwood was appointed Secretary to Captain Robert Smart, K.H. Served in this vessel until September 1846 before transfer to Juno as Acting Purser. Whilst in the latter ship was promoted to Paymaster in September 1848. Served in this rank in the following ships: Niger (1850-54), Retribution (1854-55) whilst in this vessel became entitled to Crimea medal (no clasp), Euryalus (1856-57), Imaun (1857-58), Centurion (1861), Impregnable (1861), Liffey (1862-65), Royal Albert (1865), Narcissus (1867-69), Royal Adelaide (1869), Pallas (1870). Retired June 1870 after 30 years service with rank of Paymaster in Chief. Died 1883. Sold with copy service history
