William Farr was born in Thulston, Leicesrershire, and enlisted there in December 1799, at the age of twenty. He served in the expedition to Corunna, in the Peninsula, and at Waterloo. His name is amongst those that appear in the Regimental History as having distinguished themselves in the Peninsula, the south of France and at Waterloo. Approximately 100 clasps were issued for Sahagun, mostly to men of the 15th Hussars.
