Ex Elson 1963.

Henry Bennet Everest joined the 6th Foot as Ensign on 22 December 1804. He served with the regiment at the battles of Roleia, Vimiera and Corunna; Expedition to the Walcheren; in the Peninsula from November 1812 to May 1814 including the battles of Vittoria, the Pyrenees 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th July; attack on the heights of Echellar where he was wounded; Nivelle, Nive 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th December, Orthes and affair near Fort Blaye. He served in the American War and was present at the siege of Fort Erie in October 1814. Everest retired as Lieutenant Colonel in 1842 after 38 years service.
