Ex Needes 1939 and Elson 1963.

James Shenton was born in Shrewsbury in 1787 and enlisted at Liverpool on 23 April 1805. He was a stone mason by profession and served with the 6th Foot for 15 years. At the time of his discharge in 1820 he is shown as suffering from varicose veins of the right leg.

Fewer than 20 clasps for Talavera to the regiment. Mullen's roll shows Vittoria only but both clasps are confirmed on W.O./100/5 at the Public Record Office. Shenton is shown on the Muster Rolls as being present in Portugal during the relevant period.
