INDIAN MUTINY 1857-58, no clasp (2213 Corpl. P. McAndrew, H.M's 54th Regt.) official correction to rank otherwise very fine
Ex. Jack Wadey Collection.
Verified aboard the Sarah Sands when a fire started on board whilst conveying 368 officers and men of the 54th Regiment from the Cape for service in India. Such was the severity of the burns suffered by the men of the regiment that few of them were actually fit enough to serve during the Indian Mutiny and their medals are consequently scarce. For further details see 'Dictionary of Disasters at Sea'.
