Six: Lieutenant-Colonel W.P. Tyrrell, Royal Army Ordnance Corps

1939-45 STAR; AFRICA STAR; DEFENCE AND WAR MEDALS; GENERAL SERVICE 1918- 62, 1 clasp, Malaya, E.lI.R. (Lt-Col., R.A.O.C.); NIGERIA INDEPENDENCE 1960, the first five mounted as worn, together with group of5 miniature dress medals, ribbon bar and cap badge, very fine (13)

The lot is sold with his commission document as Lieutenant, 1947, an original Airgraph sent to his wife from the Middle East in March 1942, and a letter from General Sir Richard W. Goodhody, on the occasion of Tyrrell's retirement in 1962, in which he states: 'I note that you have had a wide range of employment with your Corps during your 22 years' service, including latterly a period of secondment to the Nigerian Military Forces.'
