Seven: Lieutenant Colonel H.R. Herbert, Indian Army, late Middlesex Regiment

1914-15 STAR TRIO (Lieut/Capt., Middx. R.); GENERAL SERVICE 1918-62, 1 clasp, S. Persia (Capt.) small official correction; INDIA GENERAL SERVICE 1908-35, 3 clasps, Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919, Waziristan 1919-21, North West Frontier 1930-31 (Capt. S. & T.C.); JUBILEE 1935; CORONATION 1937, mounted on an original wearing bar, nearly very fine or better (7)

Harold Rupert Herbert was commissioned into the Middlesex Regiment in 1912 and served with the 3rd battalion in France and Belgium, 15 January to 14 February 1915, and 2 May to 8 May 1915, being wounded twice. He transferred to the Indian Army, 2-42 Deoli Regiment in January 1918, and served in Marri, 18 February to April 1918, and in Bushire, South Persia from 2 September to 11 November 1918. He served subsequently in South Persia 1918-19, Afghanistan 1919, Waziristan 1919-20, and on the North West Frontier in 1930. Herbert was appointed Assistant Director, Supply and Transport, India, in February 1936, and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel on 25 February 1940.
