DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL, G.V.R. (16912 Sjt. J. Reid, R.F.A.) nearly very fine
D.C.M., London Gazette, 3 September ,1919. 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the period under review, especially on the night of 22-23 April, 1918, at Englebelmer, when in charge of twelve ammunition wagons. The road was heavily shelled, and a direct hit on one of the wagons killed all the horses and wounded the drivers. He showed great initiative and gallantry in extricating the wounded, and by his ready grasp of the situation cleared the road of traffic, and got his remaining wagons out of the shelled area. He has repeatedly shown great gallantry and devotion to duty.'
