D.C.M., London Gazette, 16 August, 1917. 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When all his officers had been killed or wounded, he rallied the men and held an advanced position until reinforced. He set a splendid example of initiative and determination to his company, who were badly shaken by shell fire.'

Sergeant Home won his D.C.M. for gallantry during the second battle of Gaza, 17 May, 1917.
