INDIA GENERAL SERVICE 1854-95, 1 clasp, Persia (Capt. G.M. Barnes, Dir. Land Trans. Corps.) the clasp and reverse of the medal beautifully enamelled, good very fine and rare

George McBain Barnes Farquharson served with the 20th Bombay Native Infantry in the Scind and was present at the defeat of Mir Shah Mohammad at Pir Arree on 8 June, 1843. He was present in the Persian Expedition 1856-8, at the landing at Hallilah Bay, storm and capture of Reshire, and surrender of Bushire (medal with clasp). He assumed the surname of Farquharson in 1861 and retired as Brevet Colonel, 20th Bombay N.I., Hon. Major General on 31 December, 1874. He was born in the district of the Clyde, Island of Van Diemen's Land, 9 September, 1824, and died in Scotland in 1898.
