A King's Police Medal pair awarded to H.A. Kelso, District Superintendent of Imperial Indian Police in Bengal

KING'S POLICE MEDAL, G.V.R., 1st issue (Dist. Supt., Ind. Pol. Bengal); DELHI DURBAR 1911, the pair mounted for wearing, the K.P.M. with gallantry ribbon, goodvery fine (2)

K.P.M. awarded in 1911: 'He rendered exceptionally good service in connection with the outbreak against the Indigo Planters in North Bihar in the cold weather of 1908-9. The disturbances spread over the Northern half of the Champaran District and required much tact, judgement and organising power to quell. Mr.Kelso handled the situation with conspicuous skill and he succeeded, not only in keeping the disorders from spreading, but also in bringing the offenders to justice. He had previously been instrumental in breaking up two desperate gangs of professional criminals who had defied the authorities and terrorised a portion of the District for a considerable time.’
