M.C. London Gazette 15 January 1920: ‘At Dakka on 3rd July 1919, after three unsuccessful attempts had been made to assault Twin Peaks, he led two weak platoons against the near peak successfully, and then on the other, inflicting many casualties on the enemy, who retreated. He showed gallant and able leadership.’

Cecil Walter Lewery Harvey was born on 27 October 1897, and was educated at Marlborough College. He enlisted into the Hampshire Regiment on 3 August 1914 and was commissioned in November 1914. He served with the regiment in France before transferring to the Indian Army, 2/1st Gurkhas, in 1918. After service in Afghanistan and Waziristan 1919-24, he joined the Indian Political Service after retiring from the Indian Army in April 1924. His subsequent appointments included Under-Secretary, Political Department, 1929-30; President Manipur State Durbar, 1931-32; Political Agent, Western Kathiawar, 1934-36; Prime Minister, Alwar State, 1938-41; Political Agent, Malwa, 1942; Political Agent, Bhopal, 1943-44; Resident at Kolhapur, 1945-46; and Resident Eastern States, 1947. He died on 12 April 1958.
