Royal Humane Society case no. 40455 ‘At 3 p.m. on the 12th October, 1913, a child fell from the lock gates into the canal at Rochdale, the depth being 12 feet and no means of getting out. Geo. W. Heys, P.C., plunged in and supported him till further help came and they were got out.’
