Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Defence of Ladysmith (Storeholder J. Keefe, A.O.D.) clasp loose on ribbon as issued, nearly extremely fine and rare £180-220

Storeholder J. Keefe was one of two civilians from the Woolwich Arsenal who were present during the siege of Ladysmith, attached to the 4th Company, Army Ordnance Department. He volunteered to be armed during the siege and was mentioned in despatches by Lieut.-General Sir George White, Commanding Ladysmith Garrison. He was originally issued with the medal only, and the clasp at a later date. Sold with copied research detail, including a group photograph which includes recipient.
