1939-45 STAR; AFRICA STAR; ITALY STAR; FRANCE AND GERMANY STAR; DEFENCE and WAR MEDALS; EFFICIENCY MEDAL (Territorial), G.VI.R. (Lt., Royal Marines), the group mounted for display, together with a quantity of research, extremely fine and very scarce (7)

Lieutenant George Edward Eckersley enlisted as a Sapper in the Territorial Army on 21 April 1939. He transferred to the Royal Marines, 2 Lieut. 22 February 1941; Temp. Lieut. 22 September 1941; Act. Temp. Captain, 10 December 1945. He served in Sicily, Egypt and France, March 1943-August 1944, Royal Marine Group, Mobile Naval Base Defence Organisation. He was awarded the efficiency Medal (Territorial), London Gazette 14 April, 1950, one of approximately 10 such medals awarded to the Royal Marines.
