The Reverend Francis T. Robinson graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1899 and took Holy Orders. He joined the Royal Navy as Chaplain on 1 August, 1906, and served in H.M. Ships Hyacinth, Warrior, Blake and Audacious. He was appointed to H.M.S. Plassy, a hospital ship, on 1 February, 1914, thence to Ganges in July, 1917, Crescent in September, 1918, and to the Royal Marine Barracks, Deal, in September, 1922. He went to the Staff of Portsmouth Dockyard in October, 1927 and retired from the Royal Navy in 1930.
