A Sudan pair to Lance Corporal J. Weller, 21st Lancers, who was killed in action in the charge at Omdurman

QUEEN'S SUDAN 1896 (3325 L/Cpl., 21/L'crs); KHEDIVE'S SUDAN 1896-1908, 1 clasp, Khartoum, unnamed as issued, extremely fine (2)

The medal rolls confirm both medals and clasp and state that Lance Corporal J. Weller was killed in action at Omdurman, 2nd September, 1898. The Queen's Sudan roll, signed by Lt. Colonel Wyndham, commanding 21st Lancers, at Abbassigh on 27 March, 1899, notes: Medal sent to Mr. T. Weller, Westwell, Near Ashford, Kent. Lance Corporal Weller served with D Squadron which together with B Squadron suffered most of the casualties at Omdurman. One officer, nine NCO's and ten privates were killed in the charge.
