Captain Algernon Eden Brooke Greville was Midshipman of the Alexandra at the bombardment of Alexandria, 11 July, 1882, and during the Egyptian War (medal with clasp, bronze star); whilst Lieutenant of Cossack he captured, after a fight, a dhow with 50 slaves on board off Zanzibar Harbour, 1890; he served in the Naval Brigade under the command of Vice-Admiral Hon. Sir E. R. Fremantle, K.C.B., for the punitive expedition against the Sultan of Wito, in East Africa, October, 1890 (medal with clasp); during the First World War he was second in command of the southern district, H.M. Coastguard. He retired with the rank of Captain on 31 July, 1919.
